Hunter and Will knew how much I loved them from the beginning. They heard my heart beat from the inside. I got to count their fingers and toes, see their first smiles, first steps and first words. A heart divided equally in two and a vow to love them unconditionally.
A few years later, a handsome seven year old changed all of that. He asked me to dance and my heart grew a little larger. Months later, Christmas came and I got the the opportunity to spend an evening with the same little boy. We played cards for hours in front of the Christmas tree and my heart grew a little more. The more time I spent with him, the more he touched my heart.
Over the years, as he continued to grow, so did my heart. Today, the two equal parts are no longer recognizable. Where there were two, there are now three. I thank my lucky stars each day for the three boys that Jeff and I have been blessed with.
Happy Birthday Austin! It's be an honor to watch you grow into the warm, caring and responsible man you've become. Some people will stumble into your life and without knowing it, they'll change you forever. Thank you for stumbling into mine.
