As a photographer, I record memories for a living. I spend countless hours chasing that picture, that smile, that moment...for other families. Sadly, I've found myself forgetting to capture our memories. This blog is my way of reminding myself (and others) that days and years go by quickly. Here's my attempt to not miss a moment of it!

Teachable Moments
Who thought we'd we talking about football again before August? When Mom called me tonight to fill me in on the upcoming press conference, I was surprised to say the least. Quite frankly, Jim Tressel is one of the most admired coaches in college football and I am one of his biggest fans. Don't let my Michigan buddies know that though!
Anyway, we watched the press conference, read the articles and listened to the ESPN "experts" give their take on the days events. Suspended for two games, fined a quarter of a million dollars and NCAA penalties are still pending. Some may think that the punishment fits the crime. I'm not so sure. Don't get me wrong, Tressel sitting out of a couple of games does nothing but benefit Michigan football. But there is a lot to be said for intent. Did he break the rules....maybe. Did he do it to protect the kids that were in his charge...absolutely.
No one will know the whole story. Or what they would have done if they were in the same position that Coach Tressel found himself in. What I do know is that there is still not another coach in college football that I would rather have shaping my kids future. There are a lot of "teachable moments" in life....I hope that the boys realize that sometimes following the rules is highly over rated.
