Find a friend.

This is one of those posts that has nothing to do with the boys.  It's my hope that when they look back and read it years from now, they'll take the lesson from it and remember to apply it in their lives.
So here we go....

So many people pass through our lives.  I truly believe that each one is there for a reason.  You have something to learn from everyone.  But as the saying goes, most are only there for a season.  But if you're lucky, some are there for a lifetime.

I'm not referring to a sibling or a spouse.  If you're blessed, you'll find a friend.  A friend that knows you from the inside out.  A friend that has seen your highs and your lows and your absolute lowest.  You'll know it when you find them.  They'll be the only people you love like family.  The one person you can bicker and argue with...and then care enough about to make sure you make up with.  They'll be the person that you never feel like you outgrow.

I have only one.  She's my best friend.  She knew me when I was a tween, a teen, a young mom, the mother of toddlers, tween and then teens.  She's been there through it all.  Time nor miles separate our friendship.  We can talk weekly, monthly or yearly and each time it just picks up where we left off.  Our relationship is comfortable.  There's no work involved.  Just an undying friendship that defies time and miles.

So when you figure out who that person is, hold on.  Tight.  Do your part.  Be a friend.  Because the day will come when you don't just want them, you'll need them.
