As a photographer, I record memories for a living. I spend countless hours chasing that picture, that smile, that moment...for other families. Sadly, I've found myself forgetting to capture our memories. This blog is my way of reminding myself (and others) that days and years go by quickly. Here's my attempt to not miss a moment of it!

Ah, a great day!
This may not look all exciting to you, but it's been an awesome end to an awesome day. After months and months of feeling crumby and hiding in the house, I finally got out. Out to Piada, out to Target, out to Walmart, out to Starbucks and out to Kroger. It was awesome. I'm tired and a little sore, but it was fabulous. Time to resume normal life. Now when are we going to Vegas?

Goodnight Spock.
In the spirit of honesty, I haven't been a Trekkie since birth like Jeff.
When Jeff and I started dating, I vaguely recognized William Shatner. I couldn't pick Captain Picard out of a line up and I didn't have any clue what a Vulcan was. When Jeff mentioned "the bridge", I assumed he was talking about an actual bridge. I'm pretty sure by the time we got married, we'd made it though hundreds of episodes of The Next Generation and I was on the fence between marrying Jeff or running away with Patrick Stewart. And now, I not only know what a Klingon is, but I have met several and could speak it if necessary! Heck, we spent our honeymoon at Quark's Bar....right after we stood on "the bridge".
The death of Leonard Nemoy, an original Trekkie, is heartbreaking. Spock spanned generations, from our parents to our children. He was undoubtedly, my first Star Trek love. No matter how illogical that seems.
Live long and proper.

Back at it!
Hot Dog! It's been over a week since I stopped by here. Guessing it's time to get back to work....
Thank you to everyone that has spent the last week putting up with me. I'm anything but a good patient. I don't like pain medication (this time it didn't like me either!). I don't like to rest. I don't like to eat a bland, boring diet. Living with me must be a joy. But each day gets a little better and my attitude improves the more I can do. I'm off the medication, back to work and I convinced Jeff to let me eat a hamburger tonight. Ok, so it was a bland, boring hamburger but it wasn't scrambled eggs so it was like eating a steak! And the outing was like a vacation!
So instead of "skipping" the week, I thought I'd share everything I would have posted..... the puppies, mid-terms, TechOlympics, the Opera. Thank goodness for Snapchat!

Snow Elves!
Ok, so I just have to share this!

This is what we woke up to this morning. A few inches of snow, beautiful sunshine and a completely shoveled and salted walkway and driveway. It was AWESOME!!
It was like little elves came and cleared all the white doom away. I appreciate it this week, since we've kinda got our hands full. I'll appreciate it again when the big storm arrives (as it eventually will) and I don't have to dig out my boots and gloves. But I'll especially appreciate when we're retired and a shovel full of snow is just too much.
Today is the day I'm not missing the 600 foot driveway.
On a side note, I'm taking the rest of the week off. Tomorrow is surgery day and I'm going to spend a few days focused on getting all rested and well. Jeff may stop by...or even one of the boys. But I'll see you next week!

Hard Mommy Moments.

I know that he's eighteen. I know that we'll have no school - tomorrow is a holiday and Tuesday will be a snow day. So he can sleep and recuperate. But really, I can't stand knowing he's sick and alone. I can Skype, call, text and Snapchat. But nothing is better than hugging him, making him soup and making sure he gets plenty of rest.
Hugs, William. I'm thinking of you every minute and hopefully this week will fly by and we'll both be feeling better by the weekend. Love and kisses!!!!!

Happy Valentines!

Jeff and I agree to never exchange presents, but today he showed up with the greatest gift of all! Coffee!!
And it's cute to see that even then Starbucks was into the day of love. It made my Caramel Macchiato even yummier!
Happy Valentines Day to everyone! I hope your day was filled with chocolate and love!

Squeakers!
I never get tired of looking at that face. Although, her jumping on the couch every two minutes does tend to wear on you. However, when someone (who shall remain unnamed) has a squeaky toy in his pocket, this is the LEAST you can expect from the puppy. She's crazy for anything that makes noise. If only they'd last more than 10 minutes.

I'm sorry. So sorry.
Dear Mr. Monkey,
You lasted longer than your counterparts...a whole 3 days. You provided hours and hours of play for the puppy and the big brown one. Who knew the dollar store toy (that the puppy stole from my office) would provide so much entertainment? And I promise you, I will do everything in my power to determine which canine decided to eat your face off. One minute, you were smiling...the next you were missing and ear and a large portion of your face. I sincerely apologize and thank you for your service.
Much love,
Jaws Mommy

The colors of me.

But on a more uplifting subject, I've got a new project to share. Being housebound has it's advantages. I had a little time today to work on my new birthday present from Jeff. An art journal. I've been waiting for years to being one, always a little too paranoid to put my artistic thoughts on paper. Jeff's gift was a little nudge to get started.
If you don't know what an art journal is, it's a hodge podge of art. Painting, drawing, writing, anything that comes to mind. A journal, just in color and pictures.
I'm excited to get started! But I just couldn't start on the first page until it had a title and a cover. So here it is. My first project. I'm so glad someone has more faith in my artistic vision than I do.

Forty plus two.
I've been talking about today for eighteen years. It started the day that William was born. I was positive that today was a million years away. But everyone plays that game when they have kids. The "when they're this old, I'll be this old" game. Mine was when Will graduates high school, I'll only be 42. Well, today I turn 42 and in just over 90 days, Will will graduate. The day that seemed so far away is now knocking on my front door.
To celebrate, I spent a wonderful day with Jeff and my plus two. It's not very often that we all get to spend the day together. It was wonderful, it was fun. It was just what the doctor ordered.
So thank you to Jeff, Will and Hunter for making today the best birthday!

Fridge Art!
I remember when the kids used to hang art work on the refrigerator. It's been a while. Since then, we've had "I Voted" stickers, school calenders, orthodontist appointment reminders, etc. Not a single piece of artwork.
So when something new pops up on the fridge, it grabs my attention! It's Will's newest "artwork". Custom designed for the McDonald's Employee of the Month! When he first got his job there, I wasn't sure what to think. Now I know that McDonalds has been good for him...and he's been good for McDonalds!
Congrats William!

Whoop! Whoop! It's your birthday!
As you can imagine, Jeff has been less than thrilled to acknowledge his birthday. I'm thinking I might have learned my lesson in plastering his birthday everywhere. The work celebration may have put him over the edge. Oh, who am I kidding? I'm never going to "forget" a birthday.
So since I've apparently made Jeff's birthday a little uncomfortable for him, I thought I owed him a laugh or two to make up for it. Please stop reading now if you are easily offended! I promised funny, not clean. Oh, and if you're one of the boys...you may want to stop now too, lol!
Happy Birthday, Jeffrey! I'm sorry if I started your new year in a less than spectacular way!
Am i forgiven yet?

Yep, we're exciting!
Sometimes, life is just a little boring.
Well, not boring, just not all that exciting! It certainly doesn't mean that I don't capture the everyday, normal moments. Traditionally, I just text or snapchat them to Hunter, Will and Jeff.
Tonight, I'm sharing them so everyone can see (and remember) what our every day normal looks like. Brace yourself....
See, we lead the exciting life. It may not seem like a lot, but it's filled with fun and love! I consider us lucky that the boys still let us take their pictures.

Mommy locked me in the craft room with her.....
That was supposed to be Office Depot....and only I noticed.
Just in case you wondered what size I would be at Hot Topic, it's a 3X. No wonder teenage girls have eating disorders and poor body images.
Is this too close? I just wanted to hang out with you. Am I making you uncomfortable?
Silly faces make the best selfies!
Unless you can take this selfie!
Like Will's new hair cut? Rumor has it he looks like Justin Timberlake!

UC, but no thanks.
Yay, Will! He received his letter of acceptance to UC today. Computer Engineering.
Not that there was a doubt in my mind.
But it wasn't Mechanical Engineering. So it's a no go.
Not that it mattered, since we already paid the deposit at Ohio State.
Congrats Will! Although you didn't want to go, it's nice to know you could have!
