I find good customer service to be rare anymore. Actually, I find adequate customer service to be just as rare. That's what made today just a little more special.
Hunter will be 18 in a few months. Just four months before the next presidential election. He's been waiting for years to vote so imagine how excited he was when he found out that he could vote in the primary. It was news to all of us. Ohio law allows anyone eligible to vote in the presidential election the opportunity to vote in the primary...even if you are still seventeen.
So today was the big day. We got up at the crack of dawn to make sure that we could get it in together, before school. Hunter was all prepared, until we walked in and couldn't remember which precinct we live in. Thankfully, there were four WONDERFUL poll volunteers waiting to help. Truthfully, they were waiting for Hunter to arrive....they actually were.
When he walked in, they asked if he was the 17 year old voter they were waiting for. They'd been waiting all morning to see who he was. Hunter was the only seventeen year old voter in the precinct and they were so very proud of him for coming out to vote. They walked him through the whole process, helped him with the instructions, gave him a tour of the booth and promised to hand deliver his ballot to the board of elections as required. It was the nicest, most rewarding voting experience ever. Customer service at its finest!
Hunter was still grinning when he got home from school today, still proudly displaying his sticker. It was a great day, one I'm so glad I got to share with him.
Ron Paul 2012!
