Heat Wave

Here's a few tidbits about fish that we have learned over the last few months.  Fish sleep with their eyes open, so too much light will stress them out.  When a fish is stressed out, they lose their coloring.  Some fish (namely, our shark) has no scales.  The perfect water temperature for them is between 74 and 78 degrees.  Let me reiterate that last one....the perfect water temperature for them is between 74 and 78 degrees.  That ones REALLY important.  If it's too cold, they get stressed.  If it's too warm..well, if it's too warm, they could be the main course on a surf and turf plate.

Unfortunately, we learned this from experience!  Yesterday, our water heater in the tank malfunctioned.  Imagine my surprise when I went in to look at the fish and the water temperature was well over 90 degrees!  As the woman at PetSmart explained to us, sometimes a heater will get stuck on...and it's not our fault.

Explain that to the five little fished that passed on during the heat wave.
