Old and new!

Something old, something new.  Oh wait, that's a wedding!

Well in this case, it applies too.  Mom, Michele and Ben came down today to see the new house and visit!  And it was so nice of them to bring housewarming gifts.  I'd show you the wine, cheese and fig jam that Mom brought, but they're all gone.  Just kidding!  But she also brought us two little ducks that belonged to my grandparents.  They're awesome (and old!).  And in addition to the beautiful overnight bag and homemade banana bread (which was eaten with the cheese and wine), she brought us this beautiful picture Scott took...of a wood duck (it's new!).

It was great to see them and I'll cherish the gifts!  They've found a new home on the fireplace mantel until we find a permanent place for them.

Then it was time to say good bye.  To everyone.  Man, one day I'll get used to hugging him goodbye.  But it wasn't today.

Happy Saturday!

And I thought this would be the highlight of the day!!  Holiday flavors have arrived and Caramel Brulee is my downfall!

Turns out this was!  Of course, any trip to Joanns is great...but getting to have dinner and a shopping trip with Hunter is awesome!  I thought I was going to have to wait until Thanksgiving to hug him...turns out he didn't want to wait that long to come home.

His furniture is set up, we got some heavy lifting done and managed to watch a little football too!  Short trip, but fun filled.  Thanksgiving doesn't seem so far away now :D

A good laugh!

As I'm sure I've said before, I have two of the most amazing kids on the planet.  I know, one's no longer a kid and the other only has a few short months until the "kid" tag expires.  But as long as I'm their mom, they'll still be kids.  And not a day goes by that they don't do something to make me laugh.

So what did they do today, you ask?

Here are my message from them both....

Never alone.

I'll never be alone again.  The puppies will see to that.  Since the move, we've made a few changes.  So they spend all day every day hanging out with me.  No more crates, just free time with Mommy.  Ok, so not free time for me, but free time for them.  They could be playing with toys, chasing the cat...one of a million things dogs do.  Instead, this is what they choose to do.  All day.  Every day.  They lay in my office and wait.  Apparently blocking the door ensures that I won't go for my lunchtime walk without them.  But don't get me wrong, I love every minute of it.  There's no better job.

Off to the polls!

It's been a long week....and it's only Tuesday.  October and November are by far my busiest months.  November is ALWAYS Jeff's busiest month.  Days are long, as are the evenings that he's working too.  It makes the Thanksgiving break all that much better!

So as we were getting ready this morning, we both agreed that voting just wasn't in the plans for the day.  The Governors race was a sure thing and there were only a few small items on the ballot that we cared about.  Time was more important so we agreed that it was an election we could sit out.  Not because we wanted to, but it just wasn't a practical use of time.  The only thing I wasn't sure of was how I was going to break that to Hunter who takes voting very seriously.

But as Will and I left the Post Office (one of our million errands to squeeze in our lunch time), I felt the need to vote.  So we made a detour and I got my sticker :D  After all, there was a library on the ballot and the world needs books.  And if I don't vote for them, I can't complain if they're gone.

So I just had to laugh when Jeff called on his way home from work (already late) to say that he'd be a little later.  "I just don't feel right not voting."  Who can argue with that?  And he managed to walk out with four stickers to boot!

So Happy Election Day to everyone!  I hope you guys took a moment to get out to vote too.  And come next years election....we'll have FOUR registered voters in our house.  So you can bet we'll all be voting together!

Happy Day!

Oh, if only that's what we got to do with the extra hour!!  No complaints though!  We got to clean and paint the old house for a showing this afternoon.  Oh wait, they cancelled after we got all the work done.  Yep, that was a little complaint.  But truthfully, I got to spend an extra hour with Jeff and Will so who can really complain?

No-vember!

It's November 1st.  Do you know what that means?  It's No Shave November so take one last look at this face!  I'll post updates.  I'm curious to see what December 1st looks like!
